Encouraging Imagination In Children

It is very important for adults to remember their childhood. I realized this when I saw my child playing with some silver jewellery. My first reaction was to remove the same from the possession of the child. After all, jewellery is expensive and it was the product of my hard money. However, I quickly realized that my child had absolutely no regard for the monetary value of the object that he was holding his hands.

My child had decided to use the silver jewelry as a shield that would help the intergalactic army destroy the evil mutant. I was very amused when I discovered that the product of my hard earned money and my gift to my wife was being used as a weapon in a space war. Chances were high that the delicate pieces of jewellery would get damaged. However, I restrained myself because I did not want to interfere with the imaginative process of my child.

My child was learning how to use his mind. He had recently seen Star Wars and was replicating the plot with his own minor changes to make it more exciting. As a child, I have done the same thing and never bothered about the value of stuff that I used in my games. I patiently waited for a few minutes until my child lost interest in the silver jewelry and moved on to some other object.

The best option is to keep expensive objects away from children. Otherwise, you will have no option but to wait until their imagination permits you to take them away.
