A Day At The Beach Turned Into An Activity For Kids
Parents are always looking for more activities for their kids. Unfortunately, money often stands in the way of activities. There are many different options for parents on a budget. A day at the beach is a great activity that has little cost and can be extended beyond the beach itself.
Before going to the beach, have your child get out the crayons, markers, colored pencils, paints, etc. and give them a brown paper bag to decorate. This bag will be used to collect seashells and stones they like. Suggest maybe a beach theme for the decoration. Also ensure that you have packed lots of clothing for the beach. Swimsuits are a definite nessecity, but remember by the seaside it can also get cold quite suddenly so always bring a coat. I have just found this great site for baby boys clothing that I would highly recommend!
While you are at the beach, encourage your child to fill their bag with seashells and stones they like. Also, bring along a container to put a little dry sand in as well. Tell your child they will be displaying their shells and stones, so make sure they pick the very best they can find.
After getting home and settling in, choose a container that will display the shells and stones your child has collected. This is a great opportunity to show your child how to re-purpose items. Wash the label off of a glass jar such as a pickle jar. Then, fill some of the bottom of the jar with the sand and have your child put their shells and stones in the container however they please. A sharpie can be used to label the date and beach everything is from. There are also materials made to decorate glass with that can be used. If you are frequent beach-goers, this could be a great way for your child to show off all their trips.
Activities for kids don’t always have to be expensive. A simple thing such as going to the beach can provide entertainment all day. There is the initial decorating of the paper bag, the collecting of the items, washing off a container, placing the items inside, and decorating the container. Incorporating ways to be environmentally friendly in your kid’s activities is something to consider as well. The re-purposing of the pickle jar, for example, not only saves you money having to buy a container but also instills environmental awareness into your children.
